Mac compatible printers
If you're buying a printer for a Mac or buying a Mac and wanting to know if your existing printer will work, there are a number of places you can go to find out the answer…
Apple's web site contains a list of compatible printers [1] but it isn't a very up-to-date or comprehensive list, so if your printer isn't listed here it may still work fine.
Another location is a Mac OS X supported printers page [2] on a web site about Mac's Maps and Geography! This page isn't so easy to read, but if you scroll down you'll find some useful links to printer manufacturer's web pages which hopefully provide Mac OS X support information.

I have a Dell printer and a MacBook as well. My Dell printer/fax/scanner works just fine, and I didn't want to get rid of it. So, I end up dragging/dropping documents from MacOS to my virtual Windows XP (using the VMware program to set up the virtual machine). With microsoft for Mac and pdf documents, its compatible. That's how I've avoided purchasing another printer.

I have an OKI C3200 printer and an iMac computer. There is no printer driver available which will drive the printer from a Mac.

I have two Ricoh all-in-one printers, and I found out the hard way that they require a special chip from Adobe for something called post script in order to support MAC. It's something you need a Ricoh specialist to do and purchasing a part that costs about $80 is involved. When downloading drivers didn't work, MAC didn't know what to do, and it took talking to the national Ricoh support line to find out.
